I bought my 1st pc almost 2 years ago. I got Calmira from the local libary. Being that I hated the win3x interface. It's a great shell, I don't even use progman anymore. Thanks for all your hard work. Now I just wish someone would make it able to fool 32 bit apps to run in it. I love the simplicity of it. I just can't help but wonder if it could be done. After the amazing job that you did with Calmira. Ol bill might not like it,but I would think he don't like anything that keeps those billions from his pocket. I suspect that the newer os's don't come close to the simplisity, and configurablity of win3x with Camira. And like others, I'm putting it on every win3x machine I find. Just call me a fan! And Thank you again. Kavy

I was sceptical about the message I got that there was a program that would improve my system and make life a lot easier. But then I am often wrong, for BEHOLD!! CALMIRA II is alive and well. So what can I say other than it is the very best that I have seen and ever used. Please keep up the great work, for you have made a small Army of fans here in Australia. Infact if the Duchess of Argyll had not told the Government Department I work in about it we would all be learning new skills on new equiptment. Thank god we now have Calmira. It works and is great!! Thank You .

Calmira is a great shell replacement for me, because my OS Windows 95, has cause many errors. I know that the Calmira was tended to be use in Windows 1.3, but it is also great alternative for Windows 95, which may cause lot of error.

I hope the Calmira people talk to the eComStation.com guys about how Calmira II could transform the boring look and feel of the 16-bit Windows sub-system in eComStation 1.1x. Calmira II needs wider distribution, eComStation needs a new look and feel for its Windows sub-system. This should be a marriage made in heaven, but nobody has sent out any invitations to a "wedding". . . Why ever not ?? KL/2

My mother bought an old laptop from the thrift store. A compaq 386 with 4 megs. She was wondering what she could do with it so I asked her if I could have it to play around with. I was searching for a way to put win95 on it when I came across Calmira. My husband said that I was stupid to waste my time on any of it and that the comp was even less than a doorstopper. When I showed him what I had done with Calmira, he was amazed and said that there was hope yet! All of this from a computer database administrator at Washington University.

I was very sceptical about upgrading from Windows 3.1 to Windows 95 on an old Compaq Portable 486c I happened to run into, thinking that this operating system was resource hungry and would make the old machine slow. I decided to keep Win 3.1, although Program Manager was a little bit awkward. So when I tried Calmira II ver 3.3 as a shell, I SIMPLY COULD NOT BELIEVE IT! What a great job, and what a smart idea! Many thanks! I'm currently thinking of translating Calmira files into Greek, my mother's tongue. I simply regret the fact that I don't know programming in Delphi, to make further implementations to the code... Many thanks again, anyway!

My dad's old work shut down and they chucked everything in the big bin. EVERYTHING! Computers, chairs, photocopying machines, tables, stationary, the list goes on. So, my dad went and got some stuff. Most of the tables and chairs were gone. Some were really old, and had green screens, but the bosses one was good, A 3.11. I have it in my room now and since I have got Calimra it looks so much better.

After a nightmare time with Windows2000Pro, I recently pulled out my DOS/WFW disks, wiped the harddrive (it's only 3.2GB), and installed DOS/WFW. Now instead of taking minutes to boot, I get the GUI in 2.5secs. I recently added Calmira, modded it to look like W2K, and now my wife can't tell the difference between the two (she still thinks I'm running W2K). A fantastic job... keep it up...

Dear Calmira community, This is a farewell note. I have finally put together anough resources and bought an XP-preloaded computer - which has more RAM than my old harddisk. Xp is very good. It has lots of improvements to Win3.x, like long filename support and eh... eh... an improved start screen with TWO rows that configures itself, you don't have to do it yourself. Untill december 2001 I have used Win 3.11 with Calmira. The old computer is still standing somewhere. I can't part from it, because of the joy and pleasure it has given me in keeping it running all those years, thanks to Calmira. I'll have to grow up and give it in for rcycling at some time. However great XP might be, I will miss the 'gotcha' feeling that Calmira gave me. It was like driving in the fast lane with an oldtimer. It also made me conscious of what the software industry is about and what win-tel really means. If you can get that much functionality out of such a limited computer, why do we need those gb's for? Now what would be nice is a program to give XP the Win3x-with-Calmira look and feel. Win3 had some simplicity about it that I still appreciate if I turn the old computer on to get some old file from the harddisk. Wish you all the best and congrats once more

Running Calmira on two computers in the Windows 3.1 partition. On one, I also have Mandrake 8, Redhat 7.1, Windows 98,and in the DOS/Windows 3.1/Calmira partition, I have Arachne 1.70. On the other, I have Mandrake 7.2, and DOS/Windows 3.1/Calmira, with Arachne 1.70. See my page for the menu that I use in the DOS/Windows partition. http://www.angelfire.com/ms/telegram/menu.html If you use Arachne, you might like to set your home page to http://www.angelfire.com/ms/telegram/dial.html That page has special features if viewed using Arachne 1.70. I am enjoying Calmira, It's fun to have a task bar like in win 95 and 98. I recommend it for that reason alone, over the barebones win 3.1, which hides everything behind a maximized window, such as netscape.

The recent comment from the guest from from New Zealand is correct as calmira will run in winNt 3.51 but not any later versions. Also ther whwer some problems using it prior to service pack 2 if memory serves me correctly. Suggest our friend contacts Erwin Dokter as he may hve some more info. Stillagree calmira is a very good program for anyone using win 3.11

Thank you very much for developing such an awesome program. I have an old Digital HiNote 486DX4 with 24MB with Windows 3.11 that I take with me when I go on vacation or when I do some homework at the library. I added Calmira and it turned my old 486 into an almost brand new computer, what a change, I couldn't believe it. I wish I could be a programmer, it mush be awesome be able to make something as cool as Calmira. I'm still having a hard time with for-loops in C++. OK I better go to bed now. GOOD JOB and keep working hard. Santy.

It is a shame that MicroSoft discontinued 3.1. I have installed it in both of my laptops and utilize all the Calmiri programs. I find they are far superior to 95 or 98 and 3.1 is a less complicated format to work with. Thanks for keeping this site alive.

hmmm... well... i was looking on google for screenshots of windows 3.1 to show my girlfriend how win 3.x looked in the old times and i found one of calmira's screenshots. now i will install vmware , try to find a warez distro of win 3.1 floppy disks (btw: when will micro$oft will release free the old win 3.1 ? - maybe never, as most of actual win flavours are still based upon 3.1 ?), and install calmira to play with. if i'm satisfied i will fill al my friend's 386/486 with it :-) i'll come back later with post-install impressions

Just to let Calmira users know, It CAN be used on WinNt 3.51. Just tested it, seems to work well. Just make sure the links in the Start menu are shortened DOS paths. I've sent a screen shot hopefully it'll be up in a few days. Loaded it via the startup group with the program manager minimalised. Keep up the good work guys :) Now for a bit of customising.............
